How to find a niche for a blog and make money Fast

It is not doubt that blogging is one of the best ways to make money online and its has the potential to change your life overnight if you do it right.

However, I have seen loads of people come and go and one of the main reason they quit is because they see no results and this usually due to choose the wrong niche. Today I will be showing you how to find a niche for your blog and make money fast.

Hi, my name is Thabo and I went from earning $0 to a full time income online with blogging which has given me financial freedom.

Now I am dedicated to helping people with tips that will help you make money with blogging in realistic ways.

It still amazes me that not many people have joined blogging as it is one of the best ways to live a laptop lifestyle.

Anyways..that is why i even started this blog so I can build the awareness for those looking to be their own boss.

Before we get into the post, if you are reading here and do not have a blog but want to start one I have a step by step tutorial on how to start a blog for profit which will get you up and running in no time.

The importance of a niche

If you are new to blogging you may not be too familiar with the world “Niche” and I understand because I was also clueless when I began.

A niche is basically when you create a blog that is centered around a specific topic only so that it targets certain people.

For example if you start a blog that is focused on weight loss for moms that will be your niche for your blog and everything you write will be focused around that.

The reason having a niche is very important is because it can set you up for success real quick because you will be focused on a specific group rather than making a website that is generic that focuses on multiple topics.

The mistake many people make is that they do not focus on niches so this makes them have huge competition for their blog which ends up making them quit overtime.

This is because they 1. Do not get any traffic and 2. They work for far too long with no results which make them believe they are wasting their time.

Whereas niche blogs are said to have faster success rate than generic blogs.

In the next section I will give the reasons why niching down is vital.

  1. You will be noticed fast by Google
  2. You will be become an expert
  3. Your following grows fast
  4. You will reach your make money journey quicker

let us look at each of these individually.

  • You will be noticed fast by Google

In order to be a success as a blogger you need to have your content being ranked higher by Google otherwise it will be a waste of your energy writing content.

The good thing is that Google has become clever over the years and it now ranks content that is specific so that it can help certain people.

This is the reason niching down is key because Google will see that your content is consistent and it keeps promoting you so that you get an audience.

This is because you will not be competing with all the big websites which have been out there for years.

So let us say for example you are writing about “Belly fat tips for moms who work from home” this will mean your content will have some content on your blog that talks about weight loss for moms at home.

Google will be able to match this with its algorithm and see that your blog is catered for moms who are looking to get health. This overtime will make your site rank higher on Google for many other related keywords.

Since you will be writing about moms who want to lose weight your content will become super targeted and thus easy to promote.

  • You will become an expert

HOW TO FIND A NICHE FOR A BLOG

This is key for making money online as a blogger and it is tied to the previous point. The more your blog shows up on Google the more Google will see you as an expert and thus promote you.

This will thus make readers also see you as a “go-to” person and thus want to read more of your articles which could lead to more things like sign ups or making money.

  • Your following will grow fast.

How to find a niche for a blog

This again is tied to the previous point. When people find your post on social networks like Facebook, twitter etc they will be able to read your blog and if they fall in love with your helpful content than you will increase their time spent on your blog.

This will end up leading to them joining any group you have of simply signing up to your email list.

  • You will reach your make money journey quicker

This is where the fun part starts because if people can see that you are catering to them and you have lots of tips for them they will end up getting any of your stuff.

I know I have read some blogs in some of my niche websites and I can tell you that sometimes I can not even help myself and want to comment on their stuff or want to take their course.

I hope you can see the power of niching down right?

We can see one example of this. If you check out a blog called nerdfitness.com it started with a small aim of helping nerds and misfits lose weight and it has turned into a super successful blog.

How to find your niche

In this section I will go over some best tips on how to find a niche for a blog and to do this I will highlight some key points that you need to consider.

  • What am I passionate about?

I can not emphasize enough the importance of having a passion for the niche that you are choosing. This is because this is what will be your fuel for long term blogging and thus success.

If you do something you enjoy it will not feel like work at all and more than that you will be inspired to find more topics.

I can hear you saying ” What if I am passionate about a topic but have no knowledge to provide?”

..Do not worry I got ya.

You see the good thing about blogging you can start off having no knowledge and being a newbie and with a few months become an expert on your niche.

It is not like college where you have to study for many years to be called an expert and this is what makes blogging a beauty (ha-ha). It means any Joe can start off and make a living soon enough.

So the most important part is to find your topic that you are passionate about and run with it.

  • Is there a need for my niche?

While it is good having a passion for your topic, you will not go anywhere if there is no need for it. Meaning if there is no audience searching for it than you are wasting time.

So how do you know if there is a need?..I got you don’t worry…

There are many ways of going about it and thanks to the internet it is super easy to find this out.

One of the ways is to use keyword research tools like Jaxxy which will give you results in terms of the demand for your keyword niche.

You can also use tools like Google Trends which will be able to give you what people are searching daily and monthly.

The second option is to find Facebook groups for your niche and all you need to do is to ensure you type in the keyword of your niche on Facebook and type in group.

You can than see what people are talking about and some burning questions. This can be topics for your blogs.

  • What is the earning potential?

The other key thing to check is how much you will earn so you will know you are working towards something super profitable or profitable.

This you can check through your competitors and you can see this by how consistent they post also which shows that they are generally make money with it. No one writes consistently promoting products without making money.

If you are lucky you will find those who have their income reports on their blog like me which will show how much you are likely to make.

Some best niches

In this section I will give you some topics which have some good earnings that you can look into if you want to start making money with blogging.

How to be successful long term

How to be successful with blogging will depend on all the factors that I talked about and you mastering them which will not take you more than a year (it took me about 4 -5 months).

You also need to ensure you get into blogging with the right mindset and be willing to have goals and stick to your plan.

For example if you have decided to blog for 3 times a week you need to stick to the plan so that this can help your ranking go higher on Google.

You will also need to ensure that you focus on one or twp social media especially when you start so that you do not overwhelm yourself which can sabotage your progress big time.

I always tell people that if you treat your blogging like a hobby it than it will pay you like a hobby but if you treat it like a business it will pay you like one.

Final thoughts

if you are looking to start blogging as a way to make money online it is best to ensure that you start with the right steps and this includes finding the correct niche.

Most people who go into blogging end up having no success simply because of this and also the fact that they have no passion for their topic.

The most successful bloggers have niched down blogs or started off with niche blogs to reach success online.

This is why you need to do the same so you can see not only good results but super fast results in the long run.

The more questions you ask yourself about your niche the better your success rate.

Remember in order to be successful you really need to have a good training and the right tips and this is what this blog post has given you.

  1. Great article for sharing, I am very appreciated with your topic on How to find a niche for a blog and make money Fast. You guild me a lot of idea to become a niche in making money online.

      All the best.

  2. Hi Thabo, Thanks for sharing. I think this was one of my big mistakes when I got started. I didn’t really settle on a definitive idea. The first blog I made in 2019 after some years I really wanted to make a lifestyle blog about health/wellness, meditation and making money. I actually got off to a good start making about 12 commissions in my first month from one blog post. However, I would say the waters got a bit muddied here. I moved everything to WordPress and decided that each aspect of this needed its own niche website. I ended up buying 4 different domains and developing 4 websites.

Honestly, I think now maybe I should have stuck to this idea but then on the other side of this, I do wonder if even the 4 websites I ended up with themselves are too broad.

I think you make some very good points. If you can actually come up with something at the beginning like fitness for nerds you are on to a winner. What I actually think is just working on one website with a good niche till you can make it profitable is the best way and then if you want to start new projects after then you can.

    1. hey Alex

You are very welcome and I hope that your business now will be able to increase more and you will start attracting more success for your blog as these methods work like a charm.
Just remember to stay consistent and you will be fine.

  3. That was a terrific article. I am a blogger and my niche is on gardening for beginners. I realize there are a lot of gardening blogs out there so it has been difficult to attract a following. My articles have mostly all been google indexed, I have around 85, so I am pleased with that. However, they are not ranking high. I think after reading your article I need to focus more on the beginner aspect. I hope that will help me become more profitable.

I agree you have to have a passion. I love gardening and I do not find writing blogs a drudgery. In fact I really enjoy it. After reading your tips I think I can improve by writing more each month. I tend to write between 5 and 6 because I do a lot of research.

Thanks so much for your article. It has given me a lot of food for thought!

I had a health website that I did this trick and it gave me a huge boost for my income in 2021.
I think you are at least on the right track which is key for you to make money just do some adjustments you will be fine.

  4. You broke down blogging and finding any niche to write and become a pro and proficient enough to call yourself a pro.
This touches base on the most basic things some do not stick to and that is planning and seeing it all the way through.
Make time and become and expert in our niche so that SERP can recognize us as an authority figure on our topic.

    Cheers,
    MnD
